OUR LITTLE LIBERTY FARMER PROJECT
Our little Liberty Farmer project is about helping families in extremely disadvantaged situations become more self reliant. We have developed our own highly efficient “mostly organic” vertical garden towers. These towers can grow 1000%, in the same space, as typical farming techniques would take.
The aim of the project is to provide these vertical garden towers to our families in crisis who would like to become a “Little Liberty Farmer”. Firstly they will learn a valuable skill growing their own vegetables and herbs. This will also provide an endless stream of healthy nutritious produce for the family. More than that it decreases their weekly food bill. Each tower should average about $10 per week in produce through the year for the family. We will also offer to purchase some of the produce wholesale to sell through our main “Liberty Farm” website and market. This means the family should get a small amount of revenue from each grow tower.
We believe the most important factor with this is that it empowers the family. It will help kids to break out of the cycle of poverty as they grow. They will learn entrepreneurial skills and that with a little hard work they can make money.
We are in the pilot phase of this program. We have a family who are very keen to get started with their first vertical garden. We all know with children that something new is exciting and will likely get a lot of attention but it will be easy to “forget” and without daily attention the plants will die.
We have built an online platform with all the daily & weekly tasks necessary to operate their vertical farm successfully. They will have to sign off each day to confirm they’ve done everything. If they don’t we will be sent an automatic reminder so we know and they know that they’ve forgotten. If they decide to stop or neglect their farm past a certain point it’ll be discussed with them and then passed on to another family.
We’re planning with online groups that they can compare and even rival against other families who are involved in the program. If they steward their vertical farm well and diligently do the tasks each day then they will be rewarded with more vertical farms, maybe even chickens and other resources.

To sponsor a vertical garden with everything including the manufactured tower, the soil, the seeds, the planting trays & irrigation is $245. We will also provide an initial training session and ongoing daily encouragement and training.
